My training was initially in fine art which feeds my work still. Later I trained as an art teacher and taught in secondary schools in Wales and Scotland - and now, working with groups of people whether in schools or community based, is an occasional lovely pleasure.
I visited Chartres sometime in my late twenties and fell for the wondrous windows of the cathedral. I learnt later of the spiritual significance of medieval glazing. The word of God depicted in glass - the light passing through the glass to the body of the building illuminating the people within, and entering their consciousness. The windows acting as a veil between the known and the unknown.
The craft of making a window I learnt gradually - receiving a thorough grounding in the department of Architectural Glass at Swansea Metropolitan University. On a very part time basis I finally achieved a first class honours degree in 2010.

Commissions
This is such a pleasing aspect of my work. Designing glazing for specific sites - working with my customers to achieve a very special window which is meaningful to them and also compliments it's situation within the architecture.
Restorations
A window is removed for restoration or conservation for various reasons. Glazing may be broken, leads fatigued. It is a very satisfying process to give it renewed life and I learn a lot from looking so closely at it.
Small panels
I often make small works for exhibition and for sale. When available these are shown in:
The Hay Makers Gallery, St Johns Place, Hay on Wye. HR3 5BN
The Chapel (of The Art Shop & Chapel), Market Street, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. NP7 5EH
